Gooey cookie dough is fully loaded with chocolate chunks, colorful candies, and spooky monster eyeballs! This dip is a fun treat for Halloween, festive parties, or to entertain kids (of all ages!) any time.
Unless you’re a cake artist, cooking up themed treats and desserts can be tough. This is often an area in which I outsource (love my local bakery!), but I like to have at least a few playful party desserts in my repertoire. This monster cookie dough dip is one of my favorite--and easiest!--options.
After all, who doesn’t want to eat cookie dough by the spoonful? I know I do! As long as it's safe to eat, of course. As a vegan recipe, this cookie dough is obviously egg free, but I also eliminate any fears associated with eating raw cookie dough by baking the flour ahead of time.
When the warm flour combines with softened vegan butter and maple syrup, a smooth and creamy cookie dough dip is created. Enjoy it with any type of dippers you like--from sliced fruit and pretzels to graham crackers and vegan cookies.
Plus, in addition to enjoying this dessert, kids can even help make it! Aside from pre-baking the flour, there is no cooking or cutting--so it’s nice and safe to get them involved in this recipe.

Edible Monster Cookie Dough Ingredients
- Vegan butter - Use whatever brand of vegan butter is your favorite! Just make sure to choose one that you enjoy the flavor of. I don’t recommend swapping in coconut oil or other oils as having the buttery flavor is part of what makes this edible cookie dough so tasty!
- Maple syrup - I prefer maple syrup in this cookie dough recipe as opposed to granulated sugar or brown sugar, as it mixes in easily and has a great taste! Plus it gives this edible cookie dough a softer texture--making it smooth and dippable.
- Toasted all-purpose flour - Eating raw flour can be dangerous as it may contain harmful bacteria, but you can eliminate these risks by baking it in a hot oven ahead of time. Instructions for toasting flour are below.
- Chopped vegan chocolate - No edible cookie dough is complete without some mix-ins! I love chunky chopped vegan chocolate, or use vegan mini chocolate chips.
- Vegan chocolate candies - Coated chocolate candies add great color and texture to your monster cookie dough dip! I like candies from brands like No Whey Foods or YumEarth Choco Yums, but you can use whatever colorful vegan candy pieces you like best.
- Monster eyeball candies - There are some store bought eyeball shaped candy decorations out there, so feel free to use those or make your own chocolate eyeballs below!
How to Toast the Flour
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and scatter the all-purpose flour on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
- Place it in the oven and bake for 5 minutes.
- Remove and let it cool for just a few minutes before mixing into your cookie dough recipe.
How to Make the Monster Eyeball Candies
- Melt vegan white chocolate chips until smooth and pipe into small circles on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
- Freeze until firm.
- Melt vegan dark chocolate chips and pipe it in smaller dots on top of the white circles.
- Freeze until firm, then use to decorate your monster cookie dough dip!
How to Make Edible Monster Cookie Dough
- Combine. Place softened vegan butter and maple syrup in a large mixing bowl.
- Whip. Use a whisk to whip the vegan butter and maple syrup together until creamy and smooth. You could also use a hand mixer for this if you prefer.
- Fold in flour. Add heat-treated flour and use a rubber spatula or wooden spoon to fold it into the maple-butter mixture. Make sure that the flour is still slightly warm when you mix it in, as it will blend better and create a really soft cookie dough dip.
- Add candies. Sprinkle in chopped vegan chocolate (or chocolate chips) and colorful chocolate candies, folding them into the cookie dough.
- Decorate and serve! Scoop the cookie dough dip into the serving bowls and decorate with monster candy eyeballs and additional colorful candy if you want! Enjoy with your favorite dippers, such as graham crackers, pretzels, vegan vanilla wafers, or apple slices.

How to Store
Refrigerating. Leftover monster cookie dough dip should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. I recommend storing it without the candies and decor though, as adding them in just before serving is best to keep them fresh.
Freezing. Pack your cookie dough in an airtight container and store it in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Thawing. Move your edible monster cookie dough from the freezer to the refrigerator the night before you plan to use it so that it can thaw slowly overnight. Then decorate and enjoy as desired!
