Watermelon Steak

Fresh watermelon sliced into steak-like pieces then marinated in a tasty combination of balsamic vinegar, oil, garlic, salt, and pepper to turn a traditionally sweet watermelon into a savory masterpiece that will knock the socks off everyone in the family.

  • 4 1-inch slices of watermelon
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • Vegan feta to serve with
  • Mint fresh


  • Cut the rind of the watermelon slices and make a long “steak”.

  • In a mixing bowl, combine liquid smoke, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper, to taste.

  • Brush the mixture over the watermelon and marinate for 20 minutes.

  • Heat some oil in a skillet, over medium-high heat.
  • Cook the watermelon in the skillet for 3-4 minutes or until nicely browned.

  • Serve steaks warm, served with Vegan feta cheese and some fresh mint.
