This Healthy Snack Bars Recipe makes a nutritious on-the-go breakfast or snack. They have no refined sugar and are mildly sweetened with natural ingredients.

Ingredients
1cupwhole wheat pastry flour
1cupold fashioned oatsalso called rolled oats
½teaspoonsalt
¼cupcoconut oil
¾cupsdateschopped
½cupdried cranberrieslightly chopped
3tablespoonshemp hearts
1cupswalnutschopped
⅓cupwater
Instructions
Lightly oil an 8" x 8" square pan.
Mix flour, oats, salt and oil in a medium bowl.
Add cranberries, dates and hemp hearts.
Add the water and walnuts and mix well.
Press evenly into the 8" x 8" pan and press into the corners too.
Important:
Cut into squares before baking. By this I mean for you to press down with something like a metal pastry board scraper to make deep marks so that they are easy to cut apart after baking.
Bake at 325° for 30 minutes.
Notes
IF FREEZING:After they have cooled you may freeze them in any of the methods shown in my article Preparing Food for the FreezerThey defrost quickly so it really doesn't take any planning. The microwave will also zap them in 20 seconds or just let them defrost at room temperature.
