This Vegan Graham Cracker Pie Crust is a buttery, sweet combination of graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and butter that can be made in advance and tastes delicious with any of your favorite pie fillings.

    Graham Cracker Crust

This Graham Cracker Crust is the perfect vegan pie crust recipe.  It’s buttery, sweet, crumbly, and delicious.  With only 4 ingredients you can make a pie crust that will taste great with any of your favorite vegan pie fillings, such as banana, apple, pumpkin, or any others. You can even fill it with vegan cheesecake - yum! It is so versatile that you can even use it for meals such as a vegan breakfast quiche.

Until I came up with this recipe, I was a faithful store-bought pie crust connoisseur. I could find vegan options, but they just weren’t as tasty as they should be.  Through trial and error, I found the perfect combination of ingredients that will make a crust so good that you will never want store-bought again!

This crust is simple to make and can be made in advance.  Just crush your graham crackers (if you have kids, they will love to help you with this part, or you can do it on your own and it’s very stress relieving!), add in sugar and salt (if needed), mix in your melted butter, press the mixture into your pan, and let it chill.

Why You’ll Love This Vegan Graham Cracker Crust

    • This crust is sweet, buttery, and delicious!
    • It holds up well and tastes yummy with any of your favorite vegan pie fillings.
    • This crust is simple to make and you probably already have all of the ingredients that you need.
    • It tastes much better than store-bought and can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge or freezer.
    • Your non-vegan friends will never be able to tell the difference between this and a regular crust - they’ll probably actually like this one even more!

Equipment Needed To Make This Vegan Graham Cracker Pie Crust

    • Food Processor
    • Microwave Safe Bowl
    • Pie Shell or Springform Pan

    NOTES

**Crust can be made ahead. Keep covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze until ready to use. Thaw before filling.  To bake the crust, preheat the oven to 325 degrees and bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool before filling.

What to Serve/Pair with Your Vegan Pie Crust

This pie crust will pair well with any of your favorite vegan pie fillings.  Some of my favorites are strawberry, blueberry, pumpkin, and sweet potato.  This crust is sturdy enough that it won’t become soggy on the bottom, meaning that you can fill it with a fruit filling and not worry about any leakage!

If you want to try a new recipe with your pie crust (or have already tried these and loved them), this crust is delicious with both this Blueberry Apple Pie Recipe and with this Healthy Vegan Pecan Pie Recipe.

If you are anything like me, pie makes you very thirsty! When you are enjoying the pie that you made with your graham cracker crust, pair it with this Iced Matcha Latte Recipe.  It’s simple to make and is very tasty!

    Popular Substitutions & Additions

If you want a chocolate crust instead of the traditional graham crust, you can use Oreos or another vegan-friendly chocolate cookie in place of the graham crackers.  This pairs well with this Vegan Peppermint Cream Pie.

For Fall and Winter pie recipes, such as pumpkin or sweet potato pie, I like to use ginger snaps in place of the graham crackers.  These give it a little spice that pairs very well with these fillings. I have even used Nutter Butters or other peanut butter cookies when making a peanut butter or a pecan pie. It’s delicious!
You can use a sugar substitute, such as coconut sugar or another vegan-friendly sugar replacement in place of the regular sugar. The measurements should be the same, but check the package to be sure. Most packages will tell you how much to use if you are replacing regular sugar.

    Storage

This crust will last for up to 3 days in the fridge.  Make sure that it is tightly covered so that it will maintain its freshness.  You can also freeze this crust.  I love to keep some on hand in the freezer so they’re ready whenever I am ready to bake a pie. Cover it and place it in a sealed container.  It will last for up to 6 weeks.  Thaw it completely before putting your filling in it.  To bake your thawed crust, put it in the oven at 325 degrees for 8-10 minutes.  Let it cool completely before adding your filling. One of my favorite things about this crust is that it tastes just as good when it is made ahead of time.

Vegan Graham Cracker Pie Crust FAQs

Do I have to crush my graham cracker crumbs in the food processor?

No, you don’t have to.  While it does make it easier and makes sure that they are finely crushed, you can do this by hand or in a blender if you don’t have a food processor.  Just make sure that you make them very fine so they will hold well as a crust.

    Can I double this recipe?

Sure!  Just double the ingredients and divide into 2 portions.  I like to do this sometimes and place them in the freezer so that I have some on hand when I need them.

Which graham cracker brands are vegan friendly?

The most popular vegan-friendly graham crackers are Nabisco Grahams.  These are easy to find and they do not contain any animal products. Keebler Original Graham Crackers are also vegan-friendly.

Can I use store bought pre-made graham cracker crumbs?

Yes, you can use these, just be sure to check the ingredients first to make sure that they are vegan friendly.

Do I need to spray my pie pan or spring form pan before pressing in the crust? No, you don’t have to spray your pan. The butter in this recipe helps keep the crust from sticking to the sides.
