    all purpose seasoning

I love this all-purpose spice blend so much. It's my favorite way to add an extra savory flavor to just about everything. I'm sure you will love this seasoning too. I like to have a big batch on hand in my pantry at all times, but if I'm being honest, I use mine so frequently that it's on my kitchen counter rather than in my pantry. This simple combination of herbs and spices produces such an excellent flavor that it takes food to new depths. It's a healthy method to add taste to your favorite dishes without the need for sugar-packed premade spices.

This delicious all-purpose seasoning only takes a few minutes to put together. After everything is combined, you can keep it in a sealed container in the pantry for up to a year! Honestly, I use it on everything, so a batch only lasts about a week or two in my household. I make sure to keep all of the spices on hand in my spice rack so that if I run out, I can quickly prepare another batch.

How To Make All-Purpose Seasoning Salt Recipe

To make homemade all-purpose seasoning you need to gather all the ingredients and a mixing bowl. Measure out herbs and spices adding them to the mixing bowl one at a time. When all ingredients are in the mixing bowl, whisk until everything is combined. Transfer seasoning to a jar or other airtight container for storage.

What to Pair with Your DIY All-Purpose Seasoning

I know that I’ve already said it, but this seasoning really is “all-purpose” and tastes delicious on just about everything! You can use it to top a steamed veggie mix, mix it into your salad, or add to any type of meat that you are cooking.

I like to add a dash of this all-purpose seasoning into this Creamy Quinoa Soup (with Coconut Milk, And Mushrooms, Vegan!) for an extra little pop of flavor.

This seasoning tastes great on baked potatoes. It gives them so much flavor that you won’t even reach for any other toppings.

If you like flavorful potato chips, use this seasoning to top your chips in this Potato Chips Air Fryer Recipe.

    Popular Substitutions & Additions

If you like a little more spice in your seasonings, add a little dash of cayenne pepper into this seasoning mix.  If you want a little more texture in your seasoning, you can use red pepper flakes instead of crushed red pepper.

How To Store Your DIY All-Purpose Seasoning

One of the best things about this seasoning is that you can keep it in your pantry for up to a year! Just place it in a sealed container. I like to keep mine in a large glass jar, such as a mason jar, or if you make a small batch a small spice jar will work just as well.

    Homemade All-Purpose Seasoning Recipe FAQs

What makes this seasoning different from store-bought all-purpose seasoning?

What I like about this seasoning is that you know exactly what is in it. With store-bought seasonings, there are often preservatives and other unhealthy ingredients that they sneak in. This seasoning can also save you money! It is usually cheaper to make your own than to buy one that is premade.

What is the difference between allspice and all-purpose seasoning? Are they the same thing?

No, don’t let the names confuse you, they are two very different things. Allspice is an individual spice, while all-purpose seasoning is a blend of spices. Allspice is derived from berries and has a very different flavor.

Can I use garlic salt instead of garlic powder?

I recommend using the powder, not the salt. You just want the essence of the garlic, not the extra salt. You don’t want an overly salty seasoning.

If a recipe calls for “house seasoning” can I use this all-purpose seasoning?

Yes, this seasoning makes a great house seasoning. Usually, a house seasoning is just a very versatile, flavorful spice mixture.
