Air Fryer Gnocchi - soft, savory gnocchi air fried with olive oil, vegan parmesan, paprika, and garlic salt for a delicious, crispy side dish or entree that’s perfect for any meal.

    Air Fryer Gnocchi

I absolutely LOVE gnocchi.  I first got hooked on it when I saw some kale gnocchi at TJ. Maxx, of all places. It sounded healthy, and I had heard good things about it, so I picked some up. I had no idea how to cook it, so I popped it in the air fryer (my favorite way to cook just about anything), and let me tell you, it was SO good.  I went back and bought pumpkin gnocchi, cauliflower gnocchi, and plain potato gnocchi.  They are all just as delicious, and they are super filling.

This gnocchi is super easy to cook and makes an impressive dish for your guests.  It looks pretty on a plate, especially drizzled with a sauce or served on top of green veggies (I like mine on top of long-stem green beans).  Just air fry the gnocchi of your choice, then toss it with the olive oil, parmesan, and spices, then pop it back in the air fryer for a few more minutes.  You’ll have a delicious gnocchi dish that you’ll want to make over and over again.

Why You’ll Love This Air Fryer Gnocchi

    • This gnocchi is very simple to make.
    • It’s warm and crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside.
    • Gnocchi can be served many different ways.
    • It looks pretty on a plate and is sure to impress your guests.
    • Gnocchi is surprisingly very filling on it’s own!
    • It’s made in the air fryer.

Equipment Needed To Make This Air Fryer Gnocchi

    • Air Fryer
    • Bowl
    Air Fryer Gnocchi Ingredients.

Ingredients For Your Air Fryer Gnocchi

    • 2 cup gnocchi
    • 3 tbsp olive oil
    • 3 tbsp vegan parmesan cheese
    • 1 tsp paprika
    • Garlic salt to taste

How To Cook Gnocchi in the Air Fryer

To air-fry gnocchi, you’ll want to do an initial cook sans seasonings. While the gnocchi is cooking, add all your seasonings and oil into a bowl and combine. After the first round of cooking, transfer your gnocchi to the bowl with your seasonings and evenly coat. Pop your gnocchi back into the air fryer for a crisp outside and pillowy soft inside!

    TIPS

I highly advise doing the double cooking. It ensures that the gnocchi is fully cooked but not too golden and burned.

What to Serve/Pair with Your Air Fryer Gnocchi

This gnocchi is very tasty on its own, but I also like to dip mine in pesto or marinara sauce.  Dip yours in any dip of your choice, and come back and tell me which is your favorite!

I like to eat mine on top of long-stem green beans, then top it with some shreds of vegan parmesan cheese.  It looks just as good as it tastes!

When I think of gnocchi, I think of Italian food. It’s a great pasta substitute and has a similar texture.  Because of this, I like to pair mine with a glass of red wine and tiramisu for dessert.

    Popular Substitutions & Additions

Traditional gnocchi is made from potatoes, but feel free to use any gnocchi of your choice.  I’ve tried kale, pumpkin, and cauliflower.  Trader Joe’s even has sweet potato gnocchi - yum!

If you want your air-fried gnocchi to have a little spice, add a dash of cayenne pepper into the mixture. Just be sure not to overdo it.

How To Reheat & Store Air Fryer Gnocchi

The best way to store your air fryer gnocchi is in a sealed, air-tight container in the fridge.  This gnocchi still tastes good leftover, but the texture is definitely better when it’s fresh out of the air fryer. This gnocchi will last for up to 2 days in the fridge if stored in a sealed container.

Can I Freeze Air Fryer Gnocchi?

You won’t want to freeze this gnocchi.  The good thing is that gnocchi has a long shelf life before it’s cooked, so just keep it on hand until you’re ready to cook.

How To Reheat Gnocchi that was Cooked with An Air Fryer

To reheat this gnocchi, just put it in the microwave, or pop it back in the air fryer for about 5 minutes, or until warm.

Cooking Gnocchi in the Air Fryer FAQs

Should I use frozen gnocchi or shelf-stable gnocchi?

You can use either one! The gnocchi that I found at TJ Maxx (and that is at most grocery stores) was shelf-stable, but I’ve also used Trader Joe’s frozen gnocchi. You don’t need to thaw it first, but the first round in the air fryer may need to be increased by a couple of minutes.

What kind of texture will this gnocchi have when it’s done?

This air-fried gnocchi will be a little crispy on the outside and soft (almost dumpling-like) on the inside.

Where do I find vegan parmesan cheese?

You can find the Follow Your Heart brand of parmesan at most grocery stores.  I get mine at Target, but I’ve even seen it at Kroger and Wal-Mart.  Check in the organic foods section if you don’t see it by the other parmesan cheeses.
